Independent audiology care in Blenheim and Picton
Blackmore Audiology provides comprehensive clinical audiology services for adults and children across Blenheim, Marlborough and the wider region.
As an independent, family-owned clinic, we are not tied to one manufacturer, retail chain or limited product range. Our recommendations are guided by our clinical findings and your communication needs, lifestyle, comfort and budget – not sales targets.
Clinical care that goes beyond a quick hearing screen
A quick retail hearing screen may tell you whether you can detect a basic tone or beep. Our audiologists go far deeper than that, using clinical diagnostics to build a clearer picture of your hearing and communication health.
We assess:
- Hearing sensitivity across different pitches
- Speech understanding in quiet environments
- Speech-in-noise performance
- Balance-related symptoms
- Ear canal and middle ear function
- Wax or blockage concerns
- Tinnitus-related hearing changes
- Auditory processing difficulties
- Communication needs in daily life, work, school or social settings
This evidence-based approach gives us objective data to guide recommendations. It also helps you make informed decisions about your hearing care, rather than being rushed towards a one-size-fits-all solution.
Our services

Adult hearing assessments
Comprehensive hearing assessments, including discussion of your hearing concerns, medical history, lifestyle needs, ear health, diagnostic hearing testing and speech assessment.

Child hearing assessments
Paediatric hearing assessments for children aged 6+. These may be recommended when there are concerns about hearing, speech, language, learning, ear health or listening fatigue.

Hearing aid recommendations
Hearing aids are not one-size-fits-all. The right option depends on your hearing results, ear health, communication needs, lifestyle, dexterity, comfort preferences and budget. As an independent audiology clinic, we have no brand bias.

Hearing aid fittings and adjustments
Hearing aids often need careful fine-tuning as your brain adjusts to new sounds and as your listening needs become clearer in daily life. We provide fitting, review, adjustment and ongoing care to support long-term hearing management.

LYRIC extended-wear hearing aids
LYRIC is an extended-wear hearing device placed deep in the ear canal by a trained audiologist. It is designed to be worn continuously for months at a time and may be suitable for people seeking a set-and-forget hearing aid option.

Tinnitus assessment
Tinnitus is the perception of ringing, buzzing, hissing or other sounds in the ears when no external sound is present. It can be mild for some people and more disruptive for others. We provide full assessments and treatment advice.

Auditory processing disorder
Auditory processing disorder (APD) means the ears detect sound normally, but the brain has difficulty processing and interpreting what it hears. This can make it difficult to understand speech in background noise, following verbal instructions, remembering spoken information or keeping up in classrooms, meetings or social settings.

Auditory training
Auditory training is a structured approach designed to support how the brain processes and interprets sound. It may form part of a broader clinical rehabilitation plan, particularly for children with APD or adults recovering from concussion or head injury.

Workplace hearing assessments and hearing protection
Many industries expose workers to high levels of noise, which can damage hearing. We provide workplace hearing assessments for sectors like farming, forestry, viticulture, aquaculture, or tourism.
We provide custom hearing protection for work, leisure, sport and sleep.

Balance concerns
Hearing, ear health and balance can be closely connected. If you are experiencing dizziness, imbalance, ear pressure, hearing changes or related symptoms, an audiology assessment may help identify whether further review or referral is needed.

Glue ear assessment
Glue ear can affect how clearly children hear, particularly when fluid or pressure changes are present in the middle ear. This can influence listening, speech, learning and participation at home or school.

Ear wax removal
Ear wax build-up can cause blocked ears, changes in hearing, discomfort, tinnitus, hearing aid issues or a feeling of fullness in the ear. We use microsuction and instrumentation to remove ear wax.
